Caution: Blog in Construction - Font size Question for You
I just made the font size larger (maybe I should just find my glasses and put them on).
Do you prefer this LARGER size or the size it was the last time you read it?
Let me know. My eyesight is getting worse, so it felt as if needed to be bigger, but maybe it's too big. Almost Sesame Street big.
And if no one cares, I might go back to the last font, which was 16 pt I believe (but looked smaller to me.)

Kelli, I'm constantly having to increase the viewing size of blogs because my eyes are failing me more every year. So, I'm all for the increased font size!
ReplyDeleteI love font that is really tiny, so I vote for smaller, though a couple times I've been told I make my font sizes too small when I'm designing something. So... maybe my opinion isn't worth much! :)
ReplyDeleteEven bigger, and with different colors for each letter or, if that's a little much, each word.
ReplyDeleteThis looks a little bit like an extra large order of fries. I liked the size you had before. Even my old eyes could read it! Of course, I am always resisting change ...
ReplyDeleteI didn't have any trouble with the previous font size. I didn't actually notice the difference when I came here this evening, and might not have noticed it if your blogpost hadn't drawn my attention to it. It's been my impression that you experiment from time to time with new designs and formats and layouts in your blog, and I guess I vaguely noticed that you were maybe doing that again. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's your blog, so by all means do whatever works best for you. I'm sure I can get used to the bigger font size if that's what you prefer.
When I was growing up, my mom had a tendency to rearrange the furniture in one room or another periodically. You'd come home one day and the living room couch would be on the other side of the room, and two small tables would have switched places, and a floor lamp would have replaced a table lamp next to the big chair.
And, no matter how many times she rearranged things, there was always one piece of furniture that made the room a little crowded, always that one chair or table too many. (And every other room in the house also had one too many pieces of furniture, so moving the extra chair to another room wouldn't solve it.)
I just got used to the furniture changing now and then. Good practice for life, I guess. :)
Both look great, although the bigger size is a smidge too big.

ReplyDeleteI've struggeled with this issue on my own blog and so I'm more interested in what your readers are saying then answering your question. How's that for being selfish. ;)
Actually the problem is I blog on a 17 inch screen on my laptop. Everything is wide and looks large, even when I adjust down the font setting on my browser. But if I look at my blog on my office computer or many others, the same size seems smaller and so I am ambivelant about how I feel. I guess something between these two sizes would be great, but again, I'm seeing this on my wide screen laptop.

ReplyDeleteI love your story about your mom! That is me! I love to mess and tweak and move. Small changes help us adjust to a larger changing world! ;-)
Michael- I hadn't even thought to look at my blog on another size screen. I'm on a 15" mac. Hmmm...
Others-- I have found out that I don't have to be 16pt or 20pt as assigned, but can choose 17,18, or 19. I think 17 pt makes it larger without turning this into Sesame Street letters.
Anon-- I'll definitely take that into consideration. If I could write in psychedelic colors for you, I would, each. word. separately.
Thanks all!

Holy crap this post gave me awful stress the kind I get with eye exams when they start sliding those lenses in and out click is that better click or is 3 better click is this better than 2 click is this better? I get so bungled up on what I just saw that I start to panic and want to flee and instead I only get my eyes examined every time my glasses break and thank goodness we can all adjust the font sizes on our computers several different ways.
