NaPoWriMo Poem 5

From Poetic Asides--

For today's prompt, I want you to write a poem about a landmark. It can be a famous landmark (like Mount Rushmore or the Sphinx) or a little more subdued (like the town water tower or an interesting sign).

You bring out the Statue

I wrote this one in the car tonight waiting for the ferry. Still not happy with the ending or the last 3 stanzas, but it's 11:35, so it's done.

  1. This poem rocks! What a smart way of including landmarks. Very Cisneros of you! On first read, I kind of liked the last stanza. Especially the last line.

  2. Thanks! And you got the inspiration. I was listening ot Suji Kwock Kim who mentioned that poem and did a similar riff from it, I just loved the "you bring out..." and went from there.

  3. I'm in love with this poem, it says AMERICA and I love being a tourist.

Always love to hear from you...and the anonymous option is open for those feeling shy.
