Happy Dance! Foreword Book of the Year Prize for Poetry!

I just learned my book Letters From the Emily Dickinson Room  just won Foreword Magazine's Book of the Year Prize in Poetry (and the Gold prize with Rebecca Foust's book, God, Seed).

I'll post more about it next week, but wanted to share it here with you.  Thank you for all being so supportive about this book.  Truly, when it came out, I was so worried how it would be received. I am truly honored to have been chosen for this.

  2. How exciting for you!

I finally got a copy of your book through amazon, so I can see why.

I think the most powerful inspirations aren't the ones that compel you to create, but the ones that compel you to share. And "What The Universe Makes Of Lingerie" was the kind of poem that I had to show to a few friends.

  4. Thank you all! I've been aglow all day.

And Shawnte, thank you so much for your note. That's one of my favorite poems to read at poetry readings. It was inspired because I was reading an article about black holes and had a Victoria's Secret catalog on my desk. ;-)
